Man sentenced for 5 years for attempted luring in Hamilton Township

A Morris County man arrested in Hamilton Township after arranging to have sexual encounters with girls he believed to be 13 and 14 years old was sentenced to 5 years in prison Thursday, according to acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain.

In January 2011, Stephen Bubniak, 56, of Florham Park, Morris County, chatted online in a with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old, but was in fact an undercover Prosecutor’s Office detective,.

Bubniak arranged to meet the girl in a Hamilton Township hotel room, according to a release from the Prosecutor. He traveled there in Feb. of 2011 and was arrested for attempted luring and attempted endangering.

Further investigation revealed that he had made arrangement to meet a 13-year-old girl, also a detective. He received several additional charges.

In October 2011 he pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted luring and third-degree attempted endangering.

He will serve 5 years flat time in a New Jersey state prison.
