Doug and Gail Fraser of Marmora and Jim Fraser, of Egg Harbor Township, were presented with The Press of Atlantic City’s Bailey Award on Thursday at Galloway Township’s Ram’s Head Inn.
The Frasers are the owners of the Mays Landing Golf and Country Club, which won the newspaper’s 17th annual Bailey Award on the strength of donations and fundraising for Shore Medical Center, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, the Atlantic Cape Community College and others.
The award is named for George Bailey, the central character in the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life,” who is shown by an angel how he has positively influenced his community over the years.
“They’re equal-opportunity benefactors. They really help everybody,” said Bill Elliott, executive director of the Shore Medical Center Foundation, in nominating the Frasers and their country club last year. “I consider them to be Atlantic County’s first family in terms of what they do for everybody in this region.”
