A Mays Landing man was arrested Sunday after stabbing a woman with a barbecue fork, Hamilton Township police said.

Eugene Robinson, 37, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose following an altercation police said resulted from an argument over a dog bite.

Police responded to Hoover Drive shortly after 10:20 a.m. Sunday for a reported stabbing. At the scene, police discovered that neighbors were fighting as a result of an incident with the dog that occurred Saturday.

The argument led to Robinson stabbing a 25-year-old woman in the back with the grilling utensil, police said. A 33-year-old man also suffered numerous lacerations to his hand from broken glass. Both victims, whose names were not released, were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus in Atlantic City.

Robinson was being held at the Atlantic County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail as well as on other unrelated warrants, police said.

The dog has been seized by animal control. It is not clear who owns the dog or whom it bit.
