A Mays Landing man injured himself Thursday falling through the attic of a Hoover Drive residence while attempting to resist arrest, police said.
Hamilton Township police responded to the residence at about 9:20 p.m. after a 911 hangup. Upon arrival, officers heard screaming and yelling inside the house.
The suspect, Kirk Williams, 32, fled into the attic and banging could be heard upstairs as Williams ran around. A short time later, a K9 found and apprehended the man hiding under a bed in the residence's master bedroom.
Police said Williams apparently fell through the attic "numerous" times before retreating under the bed.
He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus. Once he is medically cleared, he will be transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Williams was wanted on "numerous warrants," police said. After the arrest, he was charged with four counts of contempt, resisting arrest, obstruction and criminal mischief. His bail has been set at $6,040.
