Authorities are investigating whether recent cases of arson in Millville and Hamilton Township are connected to other cases in South jersey in which homes were burglarized and set on fire.

Hamilton police Capt. Mike Petuskey said State Police and authorities from Atlantic, Cumberland and Gloucester counties will meet today to discuss the incidents.

The most recent one happened Wednesday morning in the Mizpah section of Hamilton, where a home on the 5900 block of Estelle Avenue was heavily damaged.

In Millville, a home on Hogbin Road was badly damaged Sunday. Police Lt. Ed Zadroga said about $30,000 worth of cash and goods were taken from the home.

Zadroga said it is highly uncommon for a fire to follow a burglary.

“It’s not something we see regularly,” he said.

Authorities will discuss the two incidents and three others that occurred in South Jersey in the past few weeks.
