HAMILTON TOWNSHIP - Three juveniles were arrested Saturday and charged with arson in connection with fires set at different locations, police said.

Police were called to the Athletic Fields at UnderHill Park in Mays Landing for a report of a fire on Saturday at 11:20 a.m. There, they found two trash cans had been set on fire close to the field house.

The fire was extinguished without any damage to the building, but a short time later another fire was discovered burning on the front steps of the former Duberson Middle School on Farragut Avenue, police said.

Police said it appeared that someone had placed a trash can full of leaves on the main steps and set it on fire.

Then, while at the Duberson School fire, three people were seen running from the scene.

Police said a third fire in a dumpster at Duberson was also discovered. The fires were exstiguished before spreading outside of the containers.

Police then caught three juveniles at Underhill Park. The juveniles, all of Mays Landing, were ages 14, 14 and 16.

The three were arrested and charged with arson and criminal mischief. They were released to their parents.

The Mays Landing Fire Department assisted at the scene.
