Rotarians aid hurricane victims

Latest Video

The Egg Harbor City Rotary Club, in a joint venture with the Napa Sunrise Rotary Club in Napa, Calif., recently conducted a search to find families whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Sandy, and assist them financially, the club said.

The project was initiated by the California club through Rotarian Robert Stollenwerk, who serves as a member of the Egg Harbor City club and also regularly attends the Napa Sunrise club.

The Napa Sunrise Rotary raised $5,000, which the Egg Harbor City Rotary matched. Families were identified to receive a monetary gift for restoring their homes, and presented with checks. Seven people from Brigantine, Sweetwater and Mays Landing received $1,000 checks, and three more checks were issued to institutions including the Salvation Army, the Atlantic City Rescue Mission and the Margate Community Church, with a request that the funds go to aid Hurricane Sandy victims, the Egg Harbor City club said.
