Kung Fu seminar planned at Knights of Columbus

Atlantic City Wing Chun Kung Fu will hold a special seminar taught by martial arts legends UFC Star Dan Severn, actor Ron Van Clief and Wing Chun Kung Fu Grand Master Chung K. Chow from 4 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Knights of Columbus building at 243 Saint Louis Ave.

Following the ceremony, there will be a birthday celebration for Atlantic City Wing Chun founder Sifu Cliff Kupper, featuring a casting call for the TV show GPG Warrior Island, appearances by martial arts masters and food by Revel and Borgata chef Celeste Schell.

Simply Sweet Cupcakes named Business of Year

The Greater Egg Harbor City Chamber of Commerce has announced that Simply Sweet Cupcakes is Egg Harbor City’s 2012 Business of the Year.

Sisters-in-law Gina and Jacquelin Ciaburri, both of the Toms River area, opened their Philadelphia Avenue cupcake business in March 2012. They were selected for their innovation and commercial achievement, community involvement and contributions toward the city’s downtown revitalization.

The award will be presented at the chamber’s installation and award dinner on Feb. 2 at the Tuscany House, 72 N. Bremen Ave. The public is invited to attend the “Denim, Diamonds and Dancing” themed gala. Dress for the sumptuous buffet dinner is casual elegance. Dress up a favorite pair of jeans, add a little bling and put on your favorite dancing shoes for a night of dining and dancing with DJ JR.
