Students to take part in Walk to School Day

Students from the Egg Harbor City School District will join thousands of their peers across the state to celebrate “International Walk to School Day,” on Oct. 3.

This event is a continuation of the school district’s participation in the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program, which aims to empower and assist communities with implementing projects that encourage walking and biking to and from school as a safe, daily activity. On Oct. 3, teachers and students will gather together and walk to school, promoting safe and healthy habits. Safety tips discussed with students during the walk will include walking not running, staying in a group, no horseplay, keeping visible, staying aware, and crossing only at intersections, and when possible, with a crossing-guard.

The Safe Routes to School Program and International Walk to School Dayare spearheaded by Cross County Connection, a private non-profit transportation management association whose mission is “improving the quality of life in southern New Jersey through transportation solutions.” Learn more at
