Peace Pilgrim's sister hosting Potluck for Peace
The local Friends of Peace Pilgrim will host the annual Potluck for Peace gathering at the home of Peace Pilgrim's sister, Helene Young, at 3 p.m. June 9.
The annual potluck dinner celebrates the life and work of Peace Pilgrim, an American sage who walked her talk. Peace Pilgrim, born Mildred Lisette Norman in 1908 in Egg Harbor City, walked dusty roads and city streets for more than 27 years spreading her simple but profound message of peace.
Author Merry Brennan will be on hand to sign copies of her new book, "Peace Pilgrim, walking her talk against hate."
Share a vegetarian or sustainable meal, enjoy fellowship and help defray the cost of the sixth annual Peace Pilgrim Celebration, which will take place Sept. 20-22 in Egg Harbor City. Bring a covered dish to share, a friend, acoustic instrument and your voice for an old fashioned singalong. Carpooling is recommended.
For security reasons, organizers ask that attendees contact for directions to the event.
American Legion post donates
On May 1, Egg Harbor City American Legion Post 158 donated one electric wheelchair and two electric scooters to the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland, the post said.
This makes a total of 15 electric wheelchairs and scooters the post has donated to the home.
