An Atlantic County grand jury has indicted a second man in the death of a 19-year-old woman in an alleged drag race in 2011.

Alec Kavanagh, 20, of Brown Mills, Burlington County, was arrested Monday morning after a jury indicted him last week of vehicular homicide and conspiracy, according to a release from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. He was transported to Atlantic County jail on $100,000 bail.

Authorities allege Kavanagh and Kevin Dilks, 21, of the Chatsworth section of Woodland Township, Burlington County, were involved in a drag race on Clarks Landing Road in Egg Harbor City in the early morning of Oct. 23, 2011,

Dilks lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. His passenger Ashley Adams, 19, of Southampton, Burlington County, died as a result of the crash. He has been charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, reckless driving and underage drinking.
