The Hammonton Regular Republican Club will host Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Brian Goldberg, 41, at its next meeting May 6, the club announced.

Goldberg, a businessman from West Orange in Essex County, is challenging Democrat Cory Booker, who won a special election last October to fill the last year of the term of late U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg.

“His ideas on empowering individuals represent not just Republican values but the values we espouse here in Hammonton,” said Club President Charles Woolson, of Goldberg in a written statement.

Regular Republican candidates for town council in Atlantic County’s only contested Republican primary will be on hand to talk to the public, a club spokesperson said. They are Sal Mazza, 69, and Jerry Vitalo, 64.

They are in a primary battle for three council seats against three candidates of the new Hammonton United Republicans, Michael Torrissi Jr., 39; Otto Hernandez, 60; and Steve Furgione, 38.

The Regular Republican Club Veterans Outreach Committee will continue to collect items for veterans in nursing homes. Items being collected include socks, toiletries, playing cards, cds, dvds, and postage stamps.

The event will be held at 8 p.m. May 6 at the Hammonton VFW, 390 S. Egg Harbor Road. For information email and visit
