Avalon police arrested a 19-year-old man on charges of stealing a bronze statue Tuesday.

Bruno Talvacchia, 19, of Narberth Pa., was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief after police found part of a bronze sculpture of a girl flying a kite from 30th Street and Ocean Drive in his rental unit.

Detective Sgt. Joseph Gaughan and Ptl. Sam Hoffman, who investigated the case, reported Talvacchia dropped a pay stub at the scene of the statue, which sustained more than $500 in damage, police said.

He was transported to Cape May County jail on $10,000 cash bail.
