Avalon police arrested a man on burglary charges after a neighbor alerted police while the crime was under way.
Police received a phone call at 2:56 a.m. Friday from a city resident stating he saw a man peering into a neighbor’s home with a flashlight. Officers arrived and located Michael McCool, 23, from Moorestown, Burlington County, smashing a rear sliding-glass door in order to enter the home, police said in a release.
McCool was caught after a brief foot chase, police said. Officers also found other nearby homes had been damaged, which police attributed to McCool.
Police charged McCool with burglary, criminal mischief, trespassing and resisting arrest. He posted $25,000.00 full cash bail.
