Habitat needs volunteers for one day
Volunteers are needed for one day, Aug. 3, to help with a Habitat for Humanity home in Whitesboro.
A “Big Build Day” kickoff ceremony and wall-raising will take place at 315 Sumner St. in Whitesboro. Volunteers are asked to wear work boots or sturdy shoes and to bring work gloves and a hammer. Lunch will be provided by Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial.
The home will be funded by Cape May County Habitat for Humanity, Thrivent Builds, a division of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and area Lutheran churches.
Those churches will provide many of the volunteers needed to make the home a reality. The house design was donated by Ocean City architect Christina Amey.
Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is a multi-year, multimillion-dollar partnership between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International. See ThriventBuilds.com.
Outdoor exercise classes to include bokwa
The Wildwood Crest Recreation Department will begin offering outdoor bokwa exercise classes at 10:30 a.m. Sundays through Labor Day weekend at Centennial Park, Fern Road and Ocean Avenue.
Bokwa is a new group exercise in which participants draw letters and numbers with their feet while performing an energizing cardio workout routine. The class is synchronized to pop and dance music. The class will be directed by Wildwood Crest fitness instructor Lindsay Bechtler, who recently became the first certified bokwa instructor in the area. The fee for each class is $5 per person. A punch card good for any 12 Wildwood Crest fitness classes can be purchased for $50.
The outdoor bokwa class adds to an outdoor fitness class schedule. Wildwood Crest also offers outdoor zumba classes each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Centennial Park; beach pier fitness classes that include aerobics, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and more daily at 8:30 a.m. at the Wildwood Crest Beach Pier at Heather Road; and free sunset yoga classes each Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. along the bayfront at Miami and New Jersey avenues.
