Largest-ever harvest festival scheduled for Oct. 26

The Middle Township Department of Recreation is in the planning stages for the 16th annual Harvest Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 (rain date Oct. 27), and plans to add more attractions than any of the prior festivals held in the township.

Vendor and sponsorships are now available to groups and businesses. The township is accepting applications for food and traditional vendor space, which will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. A traditional 12-by-12-foot vendor space is available for $65, while an 18-by-18-foot food vendor space is available for $250. The township also is accepting gold, silver and bronze sponsorships that start as low as $250 and provide bannering opportunities for participating businesses. Live music is planned for the Middle Township Harvest Festival, with Keith Hickman performing on Mechanic Street and the band Soul Shine performing in the Municipal Parking Lot. This year’s festival is to include rides including a mini-helicopter ride and obstacle course, crafters, food vendors, games, kids’ costume contest, a pet costume contest and other new attractions and events.

Lower Township

AirFest set for Labor Day weekend

Naval Air Station (NAS) Wildwood Aviation Museum, located at the Cape May Airport, will once again partner with the Collings Foundation to host AirFest and the 2013 Wings of Freedom Tour through Sept. 2.

This year, United States Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Peyton Russell will be the guest speaker Aug. 31. Russell will detail rescue efforts of the HMS Bounty during Hurricane Sandy. There is no additional charge for the special lecture.

Masonic Lodge to hold hoagie sale

Cape Island Masonic Lodge No. 30 will hold a hoagie sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 31 at 1105 Seashore Road. Cost is $5 for a fresh-made hoagie.
