New vicar to be installed
The Rev. Lisa A. Hoffman will be installed as vicar of St. Barnabas by the Bay Episcopal Church on Sept. 22 at the church, 13 W. Bates Ave., Villas.
The Right Rev. George E. Councell, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey, will preside at the celebration of a new ministry.
The ceremony and a reception afterward are open to the public. Councell, Hoffman and Rev. Susan Osborne-Mott and Deacon Susan Cushinotto, of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stone Harbor, will visit The Branches Mission and Outreach Center, a partnership storefront ministry of St. Barnabas and St. Mary’s, where Councell will bless the recently renovated facility. The Branches is in the Village Shoppes on Route 47 in Rio Grande.
Hoffman also will serve as outreach minister at St. Mary’s. She is a 2011 graduate of the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia and was ordained by Councell in June 2011. She and her husband, Jeff, have three children.
Middle Township
Prescription drug disposal day set
The Middle Township Police Department will participate in Operation Take Back New Jersey, a DEA initiative to collect unwanted, unused or expired medications. Township residents can dispose of potentially dangerous prescription drugs in a safe and non-hazardous manner from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Walmart on Route 9 in Rio Grande.
