School receives grant

West Cape May Elementary School is a 2012-13 Atlantic City Electric Educational Grant Program recipient. Atlantic City Electric awarded a $2,100 grant to the school.

Students will engage in learning activities including creating solar-powered cars and windmills, and learning how generators convert potential energy sources into electrical energy for human consumption. Students also will learn about fossil fuels and the need to conserve energy.

Through Atlantic City Electric’s Educational Grant Program, schools can apply for a grant of as much as $2,500 to support educational programs or innovative projects including electrical safety, wise energy use, local alternative energy sources, environmental impact, economic implications and energy-related science content.

Since 2009, the Atlantic City Electric Educational Grant Program has donated more than $18,000 to schools in its service area.
