Kiwanis Club plans celebration

The Kiwanis Club of Cape May is hosting a 90th anniversary celebration from 6 to 10 p.m. April 26 at Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Ave.

Lower Township

Leaf, branch collection to begin

The Lower Township Department of Public Works is scheduled to begin leaf and branch collection, subject to weather conditions. Pickup for Villas-east, Miami Avenue to the Lower Township Municipal Building is scheduled to start April 28.

Middle Township

Drug disposal day set

The Middle Township Police Department will participate in Operation Take Back, a Drug Enforcement Administration initiative to collect unwanted, unused or expired medications.

The goal is to allow residents to deliver unused, unwanted or expired medications to law enforcement officials, who can dispose of them in a safe and non-hazardous manner, preventing them from falling to juveniles or the illicit drug market. Residents can dispose of unwanted medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at the Rio Grande Walmart.

North Wildwood

Drug disposal day set

The North Wildwood Police Department, in conjunction with the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration New Jersey Division, will host Operation Take Back New Jersey on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Officers will be stationed in the lobby of the North Wildwood Police Department, where residents can properly dispose of their unused, unwanted or expired medications.

This program is anonymous; therefore, all efforts will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. No questions or requests for identifications will be made, police said.

Medications being disposed of in its original container should have the prescription label removed if it contains any personal identifying information. Liquid products, such as cough medicine, should remain sealed in their original container, ensuring that the cap is tightly sealed to prevent leakage. Syringes or any other sharp instruments will not be accepted.
