Bosna’s art on display this month at Villas branch of county library

The Lower Township branch of the Cape May County Library will feature the work of local artist Catherine Bosna in September.

Bosna works in many media, including creating custom floorcloths. She also paints in acrylic and watercolor and has produced several series of paintings, most recently featuring birds and endangered butterflies. She also builds assemblages from found objects and has been experimenting exotic woods and shells.

The library is located at 2600 Bayshore Road in Villas, and is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Call 609-886-8999.

Church says ‘Fill the Pews’ and see turtle performance

“Back to Church Sunday — Fill the Pews Day” will take place at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 1220 Bayshore Road, Villas.

Friends, family members, neighbors and strangers are invited to attend Fill the Pews Day. Pastor Leah Lavelle has upped her special challenge to the congregation and community: If a minimum of 80 people fill the pews that day, live turtles will perform a brand new, one-of-a-kind special Bible story during the children’s message to help celebrate. But if fewer than 80 people attend, Lavelle said, there will be no presentation by the turtles.

So all are enthusiastically encouraged to come out. Call 609-886-2414 or 609-553-5353.
