Flu clinic set
The Cape May County Department of Health will hold one final flu vaccination clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at their offices located at 6 Moore Road, Building 17 in Cape May Court House.
As a reminder, New Jersey requires that all children younger than 5 who attend day care or preschool receive an annual flu shot by the end of December each year.
Children who have not been vaccinated will be excluded from attending daycare or preschool until they are vaccinated or until the end of the flu season, which is estimated as the end of March.

Construction code changed
The Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners approved a change to its construction code fee ordinance that is expected to provide savings to both users and borough taxpayers.
The fee ordinance was amended so that the administrative surcharge for private on-site inspections and plan reviews shall be 50 percent of the appropriate New Jersey Uniform Construction Code fee schedule.
The borough employs an on-site third-party inspection and review agency to perform all construction code-related plan reviews and inspections. The last contract expired Dec. 31. Bids were received in early December and a new contract was subsequently awarded to Trinity Code Inspections, LLC, which provided a savings to the borough by reducing the permit cost to 66 percent of the state fee schedule. The borough was subsequently able to raise the administrative fees to help offset the salaries and expenses of running its construction office.
The cost of permits is expected to be reduced by about 7 percent when compared to last year’s charges for that same permit.
