A 15-year-old student at Lower Cape May Regional High School was arrested Monday on charges of having an airsoft pistol and knife at the school.

Police responded at 11:06 a.m. after a school administrator found the items, police said in a release. Airsoft guns are replicas of real weapons and fire plastic pellets. The student may have been smoking in the bathroom, police said.

The student was arrested and transported to the Bridgeton juvenile detention facility, police said.

No one was threatened or exposed to the weapons, police said.
