Wildwood will host the National Marbles Tournament starting today at Ringer Stadium.

Now in its 90th year, the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. at the stadium at Wildwood Avenue and the beach. Mibsters, or marble shooters, will compete for awards, prizes and scholarships.

The tournament is expected to draw thousands from around the country.

The young marbles players will compete in more than a 1,200 games during the tournament that ends Saturday.

During the competition, the youths will try to be the first to knock seven marbles out of a circle using a shooter marble. The games are played on the beach in rings that were built for the competition.
