New owners revive doo-wop motels in Wildwoods

Middle Township motel owner Tim Patel recently purchased the Eden Roc Motel on Bennett and Atlantic avenues in Wildwood, and is in the process of renovating and restoring the doo-wop style motel, with hopes of reopening the establishment this upcoming spring.

Middle Township motel owner Tim Patel recently purchased the Eden Roc Motel on Bennett and Atlantic Avenues in Wildwood. The motel had fallen into such bad shape that, he says, its tarnished reputation forces it to change its name. The motel will become the Dolphin Inn, a name his children liked.

The Caribbean Motel on Ocean Ave in Wildwood Crest is one of the doo-wop style motels one the island. George Miller, who owns it along with partner Carolyn Emigh, says the motel 'comes with its own cult of devoted guests.'
