Eighteen-year-old Aubry Dehainaut grew up as a tomboy.

"I used to play baseball, and I was the only girl in the whole league," said Dehainaut, of the Swainton section of Middle Township. "I also tried out for the football team, but I didn't make it because they said the guys would probably break me."

But lately, the Middle Township teen has been swapping her sports equipment for makeup and stilettos. Dehainaut is an aspiring model and student of Barbizon Modeling School, located in Philadelphia.

She was approached by a Barbizon modeling agent while at a Cape May County 4-H Fair about three years ago and later met with the agency and signed up for the school, kick-starting her modeling career.

"They taught me how to put on makeup, walk in heels, speak in front of a crowd," Dehainaut said. "I'm more of a girl now, which is weird, but I still like to play sports and wear sweat pants."

She's since been casted for several modeling jobs, including one with Macy's, and has been signed with several designers.

On March 10, Dehainaut will be competing in a Barbizon Modeling Competition at The Media Theatre for Performing Arts in Media, Pa. This will be her second modeling competition.
