Two charged in stealing power cords from marinas in Lower and Middle townships

LOWER TOWNSHIP — Police have charged two people with burglary and theft from several local marinas and one in neighboring Middle Township.

Michael Vandepol, 44, of Wildwood Crest, and Jason Mathis of North Cape May, were charged with stealing power cords valued at $350 to $500 each from South Jersey Marina, Canyon Club Marina, Bree-zee-Lee Marina, and Lighthouse Point Marina. They were also charged with stealing from a marina in neighboring Middle Township, the Pier 47 Marina.

Police arrested Vendepol on Monday and Mathis on Tuesday following an investigation by Detectives Mike Majane and Don Vanaman along with the New Jersey State Police Marine Division. The robberies occured June 9 and 10.
