If you bumped into Wildwood resident Jodie DiEduardo last year, she probably snapped a photograph of you.
DiEduardo was one of the people charged with documenting Wildwood's 100th year for the city's centennial book, "The City of Wildwood Presents A Century of Memories: 1912-2012," which was published in May and is on sale now at select locations throughout the City.
"We had cameras all over the place," said DiEduardo, chairman of the book committee, "the Kenny Chesney concert, the inaugural Celebration of Heroes, the U.S. Coast Guard graduation, which was held in Wildwood for the first time last year."
"A Century of Memories" is not your typical history book, she said. It's a vibrant and colorful "coffee table book" full of photographs and paragraph-length tidbits, broken into two parts, the old history of Wildwood from 1912 - the year the city was incorporated - to the start of its centennial year, and the second part, its centennial year.
"It just gives you a flavor of everything that's happened in the Wildwoods over the past 100 years," she said.
The book includes sections on the Baker Brother, the old hotels and motels, the fishing industry, the entertainment, the tram cars and trolleys, the Firemen's Convention, the Christmas parade, the history of its Vietnam War Memorial Wall, the National Marbles Tournament and much more.
The committee that created it included Juli Musser, the designer, who is also the director of marketing at One Off Marketing in Wildwood; Jaclyn Hedgepeth, a graphic designer from One Off Marketing, several members of the Wildwood Historical Society, including its president, Anne Vinci, and about a half dozen other contributors.
Vinci said couldn't be happier with the final product and is proud to have been a part of its making.
"Preserving history is such a responsibility, and maybe in our own little way we contributed to that," she said.
