Students on dean’s list at St. Joseph’s University

The following residents earned dean’s list honors for the spring 2013 semester at St. Joseph’s University: Elisa R. Miller, of Cape May, majoring in mathematics; and Nicole A. Hoffmann, of Cape May Court House, majoring in English.

Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all their classes, and complete at least 15 credits to earn dean’s list status.

Two receive Polish American Club scholarships

The Polish American Club of South Jersey recently awarded two scholarships to high school seniors of Polish ancestry.

Nicole Kilar, of Absecon, received a $1,000 award and John Keenan Osborne IV, of Cape May, received a $500 award. Kilar attended Holy Spirit High School and Osborne attended Wildwood Catholic.

Sons of Italy present scholarships

Recently, the Sylvester Grande Lodge No. 1838-Wildwoods of the Order Sons of Italy in America presented two students with scholarships for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and the community. This year’s recipients also wrote essays on how an Italian American influenced their lives.

The winners were Jenna Long, of Wildwood Catholic High School, who plans to attend Salisbury University, and Anthony Madle, of Wildwood High School, who plans to attend Seton Hall University.

Realtors award scholarships

Twelve Cape May County students received a $1,000 scholarship, of the Cape May County Association of Realtors in July at the Sand Barrens Golf Club.

The association’s annual Scholarship Golf Tournament in May at the Wildwood Golf and County Club funded the scholarships. All recipients are relatives of Cape May County Realtors. The scholarship recipients are:

Heather Bailey, of Lower Cape May Regional High School, attending Montclair State University

Ryan Barry, of Cape May Technical High School, attending Savannah College of Art and Design (Hong Kong)

Garrett Brown, of Wildwood Catholic High School, attending Monmouth University

Kristina DiGiacamo, of Middle Township High School, attending Monmouth University

Andrew Giordano, of Ocean City High School, attending Atlantic Cape Community College

Marissa Pohle, of Cape May Technical High School, attending the College of New Jersey

Brittany Robertson, of Middle Township High School, attending Immaculata University

Eric Sanderson, of Ocean City High School, attending Arcadia University

Marjorie ‘Paige’ Schoultz, of Ocean City High School, attending St. Joseph’s University

Matthew Soens, of Ocean City High School, attending American University

Zackary Vogelei, of Middle Township High School, attending Towson University

Olivia Zeitler, of Lower Cape May Regional High School, attending Stockton College

In addition to the 12 scholarships, a $500 gift was given to Luis DeJesus, of Cape Educational COMPACT, attending Centenary College.

4-H fair winners honored

The Rutgers Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development Program recently congratulated the 2013 Cape May County 4-H Fair award winners.

In addition to recognizing the achievements of youth in the program, 4-H presented two leadership awards to outstanding volunteers. This year, Beth Suter, of the Shore Blazers, and Peter Avagliano, of PPAWS, were recognized for their contributions to the Cape May County 4-H program. 4-H also applauds the efforts of the following participants:
