Committee honors Sambendetto, elects officers

Florence Sambendetto was honored by the Cape May County Citizens Advisory Commitee at its January meeting for her leadership while serving as chairperson for the past three years. Lisa D'Amico, director of Fare Free, presented Sambendetto with a citation and flowers, and thanked her for her dedication and service to the county.

The committee also elected new officers for the next two years. They were: Chairman Maurice H. Hight, Vice Chairman John Brikmeyer, Secretary Mary Ann Matthews-Mason and Communication Representative Paulann Pierson.

Students named to Clemson dean's list

The following local residents have been named to the dean's list at Clemson University for the fall 2013 semester: Elizabeth Morinelli, of Cape May Court House, whose major is accounting; Jared Cantz, of Green Creek, whose major is financial management; Joseph Delvescio, whose major is language and international trade; Luke Hogan, whose major is mechanical engineering; Christine Mullan, whose major is general engineering, all of Ocean View.

To be named to the dean's list, a student must achieve a grade-point average between 3.5 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Students on Rider University dean's list

Rider University's colleges of Business Administration, Continuing Studies, Liberal Arts, Education and Sciences, and Westminster College of the Arts have announced the names of undergraduate students who have been placed on the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester. They include: Drew Sidman, of Cape May Court House, a freshman web design major; Morgan Robinson, of Erma, a sophomore elementary education major; Zachary Valcarce, of Villas, a freshman business administration major; Ana Nguyen, of Wildwood, a sophomore communication studies major; Nicole Szczur, of Wildwood, a sophomore elementary education major; Lauren Irwin, of Wildwood Crest, a senior secondary education major; Joseph Gleason, of Ocean View, a senior accounting major; and Sherah Somervell, of Woodbine, a senior elementary education major.

DiPietro on dean's list at Springfield College

Springfield (Mass.) College has named Emily DiPietro, of Wildwood, to the dean's list for academic excellence for the fall 2013 term. DiPietro is studying Emergency Medical Services Management.

Students on dean's list at Wake Forest

Hannah Padrnos, of Avalon, and Catherine Smith, of Cape May, were named to the fall 2013 dean's list at Wake Forest University.

Students who achieve a 3.4 grade-point average and no grade below a C were named to the list.

Scrocca graduates from Hofstra

More than 500 students earned undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees from Hofstra University in December 2013, including Joseph Scrocca, of Tuckahoe, who earned a bachelor of arts degree in film studies and production.

The university celebrated commencement at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex, with a ceremony that featured a keynote address by honorary degree recipient and White House adviser Phil Schliro, 1978.

Roberts on dean's list at Trevecca Nazarene

Alison Roberts, a freshman from Ocean City,was named to the Trevecca Nazarene University dean's list for fall 2013. This list honors students who achieved a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester, and it recognizes the hard work and dedication of those students. Alison is a member of a professional study program called the National Praise and Worship Institute (NPWI). Now in its premiere year, NPWI prepares praise and worship leaders for churches.

Students on dean's list at U. of Delaware

Local students have been named to the University, of Delaware's dean's list for the 2013 fall semester, including Nicole Ferrante, Lindsay Galle, both of Cape May; Kimberly Castellucci, of Erma; Rachel Reeves, of West Cape May; Trevor Cooper, Mark Rucci, both of North Wildwood; Sara Shaw, of Rio Grande; Erica Addonizio, of Villas; Christine Casiello, of Wildwood Crest; Joseph Massaglia, of Marmora; Brian Lowe, of Ocean City; Alyssa Vogel, of Ocean City; Joseph Iudica, of Ocean View; Kameron Ghanavati, of Seaville; and Ian Kosten, of Woodbine.

To meet eligibility requirements for the dean's list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA, of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.
