Fire department wins award

The North Wildwood Fire Department recently received the 2011 Life Safety Achievement Award for outstanding efforts on behalf of fire and life safety. The National Fire Research & Education Foundation, Residential Fire Safety Institute and Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance presented the award.

This award is for community involvement and educational programs, as well as for assisting other communities in helping to raise fire safety consciousness. Targeting both adults and students, several demonstrations and classes are held throughout the year by members of the Fire Department. Visits to local schools and taking part in community events such as National Night Out and Crime Watch meetings allow both adult and student participation.
