About 40 firefighters were on scene and the blaze was under control after about 20 minutes, he said. The home suffered severe fire damage throughout, he said. The siding of a neighbor’s house was also partially melted due to the fire, he said.

No one was home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported, Armstrong said. Fire companies from Longport, Ventnor and Northfield assisted at the scene, he said.

The fire is under investigation and Armstrong said they do not know the cause.
