Ventnor

Purim celebration set

Congregation Beth Judah in Ventnor will celebrate Purim this year at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 23 at the temple, 700 N. Swarthmore Ave. Purim is a minor Jewish festival that commemorates events that occurred in the land of Persia (now Iran) more than 2,000 years ago. In addition to a unique evening service and the chanting of the book of Esther, the Not-Ready-for-Purim-Time-Players will present Star Trek XVIII: The Wrath of Haman, which is a humoresque parody of the biblical book.

The celebration continues with the Purim carnival at 11 a.m. Feb. 24. There will be an inflatable obstacle course, basketball and football toss, games of challenge for different age groups and a food court.

Purchase wristbands for $18 in advance for a family of as many as five, with the cost at the door of $20. The entire community is invited to the festivities.

For information, call 609-822-7116.
