Dog show scheduled

Steve and Cookie’s 16th annual Dog Show will take place Sept. 30 at 9700 Amherst Ave., Margate.

This lighthearted judging competition kicks off with awards for each entry. For $20 per entry, each registrant will receive an official commemorative T-shirt and a “goodie bag.” All proceeds benefit New Jersey Aid for Animals, an all-volunteer animal charity aiding abused and abandoned animals and the Humane Society of Ocean City.

This year’s dog show theme is “Rethinking Sustainability: “Reuse, Recycle Rehome.” There will be a doggie fashion show, pet information booths and demonstrations by the Atlantic City K-9 Unit.

Funfest by the Bay planned for weekend

The annual Funfest by the Bay will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 29 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 30 bayside from Decatur to Coolidge Avenue on Amherst.

Admission is free. A free shuttle service will pick up and drop off on Ventnor Avenue between Essex and Coolidge and on Amherst Avenue between Essex and Benson. Funfest proceeds benefit Gilda’s Club South Jersey, Margate Business Association Daniel and Maria Walters Scholarship Fund and the MBA Children’s Scholarship fund, which benefits Margate school children in need, and several other regional charities.
