VENTNOR— Six people were taken to the hospital following a crash involving a city ambulance and a minivan from out of state.

Authorities were called to Marion and Atlantic avenues about 11 a.m. after the ambulance, which was returning from a call, crashed with the minivan and both vehicles crashed into a house in the 100 block of S. Marion Avenue.

The residents were not home at the time, but have since returned and are surveying the damage. The Ventnor Building Department deemed the property safe.

Two Ventnor City firefighters were taken to the hospital AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, along with the four occupants in the van, including two men from Annapolis, Md, and a woman and a boy from Atlantic City.

The minivan was heavily damaged on the driver’s side. As of 2 p.m., one firefighter has been released from the hospital.  As of 5 p.m., Ventnor police said the second firefighter is being released after being treated for injuries to his rib and lacerations.

Police said that the two men from the van are currently stabilized at the hospital. 

Ventnor City police have not yet released names of those in the accident.
