Two Margate men were chased down on foot and charged with a string of thefts, police said.

The incident took place Friday night, Det. Michael Edge said, when Margate police responded to a report of two suspicious men “going in and out of vehicles” on North Nassau Avenue, where several cars had been broken into.

Lt. John Votta and Sgt. Thomas Kresz located two men dressed in dark clothing, who then fled on foot, Edge said. They were captured and arrested after a short chase.

Mark Anthony Schiff, 24, and Christopher Browne, 31, both of Margate, were both charged with theft of moveable property and obstruction for fleeing the scene.

Schiff was released on his own recognizance, while Browne, who had three active warrants for $3,500, was taken to the Atlantic County Jail.
