Prudential Fox & Roach is directly affiliated with 63 offices in the tri-state area. At the Northfield office, we have more than 100 agents. We’re one of the Prudential Fox offices that has a separate commercial division.

The commercial division covers Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties. We handle everything from the smaller lease of an office space to the sale of a warehouse. We’re involved in the office, industrial, multifamily and land sectors.

Around here you have to be quite diverse as an agent, because we don’t have enough of one thing to specialize in it.

Right now we have a lot of office and industrial spaces available. We have a pretty good inventory of just about everything. For example, there’s 1015 New Road in Northfield, a beautiful new office building in which we have three spaces available for lease.

We work with a lot of investors and they’re looking for multifamily and multitenant properties, either retail or warehouse space. Finding and showing properties is the beginning of the process. We have a list of potential buyers we’re always looking for.

And then we walk them through the process of buying a commercial property. Getting the deal done is one thing, but getting to the conclusion of the process is challenging. There can be permits, local and state regulatory approvals, financing needs — often it’s quite involved.

Entry: I’ve been in commercial real estate 18 years. I was with Vanguard Property Group and then it merged with Prudential Fox & Roach two years ago.

I had owned my own business for several years and was ready to make a career change. It’s as close to owning your own business as you can get without all the less-satisfying parts.

The first challenge is figuring out exactly what a buyer’s, tenant’s or seller’s needs are, and finding them what they need.

About me: I like to play golf, to read, and I’m a Catholic teacher on Monday nights, one of the best hours of my week. I teach the little first-graders, and they’re fun. I love the Greater Atlantic City Chamber and have been on the board of directors for many years.
