Dinner dance benefits schools
The Somers Point Education Foundation will host its 19th annual Dinner and Dance from 6 to 11 p.m. March 9 at Greate Bay Country Club, 901 Mays Landing Road in Somers Point. All proceeds benefit the Somers Point Foundation for Education.
This year’s theme is ’80s Prom and will feature fun decor along with 80s cover music by local band Tidal Wave and DJ Ralph Smith. A surf and turf dinner will be held following a cocktail reception. The presenting sponsor is Shore Medical Center.
Tickets to the event are $75 per person and include a 6 p.m. cocktail hour with complimentary hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and soda, followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
In addition to supporting Somers Point Schools, the event will honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Somers Point community in the areas of Education, Community and Healthcare. The 2013 Community Honoree will be awarded to Lt. Anthony DiSciascio, of the Somers Point Police Department. The Education award will be given to Somers Point Health and Physical Education teacher Devon Kallen, who is also a certified exercise specialist, and the Health Care award will go to Dr. Bennett Ojserkis, director of Shore Medical Center’s Advanced Pulmonary Diagnostic Center.
