Panel seeks Citizen of Year, Miss July 4th nominees

The Northfield Cultural Committee seeks nominations for Citizen of the Year and Miss July 4th, 2014. Send the nominations to the Northfield Cultural Committee, 1600 Shore Road, City Hall, Northfield, NJ 08225.

Home renovation debris pickup scheduled

There will be an organized home renovation debris pickup event May 12 to 16.

Items including doors, windows, fencing, cabinets, kitchen and bathroom fixtures and scrap wood etc. can be put out for collection on residents' regular trash days May 12 to 16 only.

This program is not open to contractors.

Residents are asked to adhere to the following guidelines:

•Separate these items from regular trash;

•Each household will have a three item or can limit (in addition to regular trash);

•Cans cannot be larger than 40 gallons;

•There is a 50-pound weight limit for cans or individual items;

•No hazardous materials, such as paint, solvents, pool chemicals and flammable liquids;

•Broken glass or items with sharp or jagged edges shall be placed in a secure container to facilitate safe loading.

Street sweeping work planned

Street sweeping services will be performed through May 9. The work will begin at 7 a.m., and vehicles, trailers, boats etc. must be removed from affected areas before work is performed.
