Street sweeping schedule set

The City of Northfield will conduct street-sweeping services Sept. 23-Oct. 4. Sweeping will start at 7 a.m. and residents must remove their vehicles from the side of the street to be swept.

Sept. 23, from Zion Road to Dolphin Avenue; between New Road and Shore Road, odd side of streets

Sept. 24, Zion Road to Dolphin Avenue, between New Road and Shore Road, even side of streets

Sept. 25, New Road west to city limits, between Mill Road and Linwood border, odd side of streets

Somers Point

Golf tournament planned

On Oct. 6, the Somers Point Foundation for Education will hold its 28th annual Adopt-A-School Golf Tournament.

The event at McCullough’s Emerald Links in Egg Harbor Township includes prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, breakfast, lunch and more. The tournament begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start with a warm-up breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m.; lunch will be served after the tournament. The tournament’s title sponsor is Shore Medical Center. Registration is $110 per golfer; players can register with a foursome or individually for team placement. To register, call 609-927-2053, ext. 3101. Proceeds benefit the Somers Point school district’s annual sixth grade trip to Stokes State Forest. This four-day trip to the New Jersey School of Conservation is an experience for the students to learn about the environment, how to preserve natural resources and receive teambuilding and leadership training.

Fire auxiliary presents fundraiser

The Somers Point Fire Co. No. 1 Fire Auxiliary is holding a fundraiser at Playland's Castaway Cove from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 21. Wristbands for the event are $5 and must be purchased from an auxiliary member. No wristbands will be sold at Playland.
