Flea market/coat drive set by fire company
The Linwood Volunteer Fire Company will hold its second annual Flea Market and Winter Coat Drive from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 across from the Fire House at 750 Lincoln Ave. The event is called Junk in the Trunk because whatever items you can put in your trunk, you can sell. More than 20 venders will sell assorted items from childrens clothes to jewelry.
The money raised from renting vender spots will go to the fire company fund that has been established to restore a 1963 Pirsch pumper. This engine used to be an active truck used to put out fires in Atlantic County.
Until six years ago, it was used for parades and special events. There is no charge for buyers, or anyone who would like to see the fire truck. This event will run concurrently with the annual coat drive for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
The fire company will collect coats, scarves, sweaters and gloves from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you are unable to make it Oct. 13, all Cape Bank locations in Atlantic and Cape May counties will collect the coats from now until Oct. 13. For more information call Marc Ginsberg at 609-377-1902.
