Library plans events

The Friends of the Northfield Library will hold the group’s annual tea from 2 to 4 p.m. June 8 at the library. Tickets will be available at the front desk for $10. Seating is limited. Call 609-646-4476 to register.

At 6:30 p.m. June 17 at the Otto Bruyns Northfield Public Library, join author and photographer Kevin Woyce of “Jersey Shore History and Facts.” Woyce will present a breezy tour of coastal history-from pirates, shipwrecks and lighthouses to grand hotels, abandoned forts and today’s most popular boardwalks. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center will be at the Northfield Public Library at 1 p.m. June 29. Learn about the mysterious lives of marine mammals and sea turtles, problems facing these creatures and their marine environment, and the role the MMSC plays to overcome these problems. Tot Shabbat set

Congregation Beth Israel will hold a Tot Shabbat at 5:30 p.m. May 31. The program will include a worship service geared toward preschoolers, a family Shabbat dinner and a craft.

The Tot Shabbat program is open to the community. Cost is $25 per family. Somers Point

Garden Club holding contest

The Green Thumb Garden Club of Somers Point is sponsoring its third annual Garden Contest.

The entry deadline is June 14, and judging begins June 17.

Previous winners may enter another category this year. Categories are: flower gardens, small, medium and large; vegetable gardens; container/window boxes; eco-green gardens. Junior Gardeners age 12 and younger are encouraged to enter; they need a small area and individual specimens. Entry forms may be picked up at the Somers Point Municipal Building, Somers Point Library and local garden centers and businesses.
