An armed robbery at a restaurant in Linwood led to a brief lockdown at nearby Mainland Regional High School Monday afternoon, according to police.

Police responded to Fuji Sushi and Steakhouse around 4:15 p.m.

An employee told police that the a tall, skinny man, clean-shaven with dark hair wearing a black jacket and pants, and a white bandana on his face, pulled out a hand gun. He demanded money and then fled the scene on foot.

Police set up a perimeter around the restaurant, which is located in the Linwood Greene shopping plaza. They ran a K-9 search but turned up nothing.

A girls high school soccer game was taking place at the time, and the school's football, cross country and field hockey team were all practicing when the school took them inside as a precaution.

Parent Stephanie Oster from Linwood said the school did a great job protecting all the kids.

After the lockdown ended, the game resumed, but the practices were cancelled.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and anyone with information is asked to call Det. Sgt. John Hamilton at 609-926-7968.
