Local ShopRite employees will be featured on a special edition Cheerios box that will be sold at their stores this month as part of the company’s fundraising for local food banks.

The ShopRite stores in Somers Point, Egg Harbor Township, Hammonton and Rio Grande will all select two associates to appear on a Cheerios box. During September’s National Hunger Awareness Month stores raised a record $1.25 million for local food banks, and 41 local stores in the Northeast were selected for the special cereal box honor. Each store is also given $500 to donate to a hunger-fighting charity of its choosing.

In Somers Point, associates Peter Forcinito, of Vineland, and Pamela Pelligrino, of Egg Harbor Township, will be featured on 125,000 special-edition Cheerios boxes that will be unveiled during a ceremony at the ShopRite of Somers Point at 11 a.m. Monday. Names of the associates from the other stores were not available.
