A DWI charge against Ocean City Fire Department Capt. Jackson Neall III was dismissed in Linwood municipal court Wednesday

Neall pleaded guilty to reckless driving and his license was suspended for 10 days.

On July 6, Neall, 35, of Ocean City, was stopped by Linwood police at a DWI checkpoint and was arrested on charges of possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, which included packing material and a glass smoking pipe with marijuana residue, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and driving under the influence.

At the time of Neall’s arrest, his blood-alcohol level was .05 percent, according to the prosecutor. The legal level in New Jersey is .08.

For the remaining charges, Neall was granted a conditional discharge by the judge and asked to supply urine samples three times over the next 180 days after which time, with the approval of the judge, the charges could be dropped.

Neall has been a member of the Ocean City Fire Department since May 2002 and was promoted from firefighter to captain in 2008.

Neall declined comment after the hearing.
