The Somers Point Board of Education announced Tuesday that all city schools will be open for class Sept. 18.

A meeting with contractors and environmental consultants confirmed the mold remediation process will be complete by that date, according to a letter from the board.

Dawes and New York Avenue Schools will be fully accessible on the first day of school, but Jordan Road School’s primary wing will remain closed.

Third-graders will be moved to temporary classrooms, and first- and second-graders will be moved to The Mission Point Church at New York Avenue and 10th Street. The primary wing is scheduled to reopen Sept. 24.

The schools’ websites will have additional information today regarding the first day of class.

The district will revise the school calendar to make up the missed days. That will be presented for approval at the board meeting 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Jordan Road School.
