Two face drug charges in Somers Point

Two Somers Point residents were arrested on warrants early Thursday morning.

S.W.A.T. team members entered a residence around 5 a.m., Chief Michael Boyd explained said.

Aaron Kyle, 33, and Diane Newell, 25, were arrested in the 100 block of Cleveland Avenue, Boyd said.

Newell was released on a summons and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Kyle, who has five previous convictions, was charged with possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute in a school zone. He was also found with a handgun and a scanning device, Boyd said.

Police said they found 154 bags of heroin, prescription drugs that did not belong to Kyle or Newell ,and less than 50 grams of marijuana.

Kyle is being held on 150,000 cash bond.
