SOMERS POINT- Two local ShopRite associates were congratulated for their efforts in collecting donations during National Hunger Awareness Month in September, and putting the community store on the map.

Pete Forcinito, of Vineland, and Pam Pellegrino, of Egg Harbor Township, helped raise $22,106 for the store, ranking it fourth among all ShopRite locations during the fundraiser. The total raised at all locations was $1.25 million.

The two local associates are featured along with other ShopRite associates in the country on the back of a limited edition Cheerios cereal box, which is being sold at the Somers Point location.

"The community is great," Pellegrino said.

Forcinito said it was a team effort and is the success of all associates in the store.

City council member Sean McGuigan was present and said he was proud of the two associates and that ShopRite is a great community partner.

"No one should go hungry," he said.

Spokesperson Orien Reid said the success put "the Somers Point store on the map."

An unveiling of the image took place at the store Monday. The two associates also received oversized, laminated copies of the box as tokens.
