Atlantic Cape inducts students into PTK

Atlantic Cape Community College welcomed 209 inductees into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society on April 18 at the Mays Landing Campus.

Phi Theta Kappa recognizes the academic achievements of two-year college students and encourages academic growth. Candidates must be a full- or part-time student enrolled at Atlantic Cape, have earned 12 general education credits to date, either from Atlantic Cape or another community college, and hold a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Inductees included Ricky Laielli, Jamie McGowan, Chelsea Raske and Nicollette Traa, all of Linwood; Elyssabeth Brown, Joseph D’Antuono, Alexa Ellis, Mary O'Dowd, Shannon Reale, Lauren Vega, Colleen Walsh and Meghan West, all of Northfield; Allison Bennett, Dana Cosentino and Jacquelyne Kozimer, all of Somers Point.

Students honored

The Northfield Community Middle School inducted its ninth National Junior Honor Society group on April 17 at the Linwood Country Club. The ceremony and dinner was provided by BRAYCES.

Honorees were Bailey Arena, Nicholas Berenotto, Mackenzie Brennan, Joel Burgos, Amanda Dearborn, Ethan Engle, Kamryn Englert, John Feshuk, Sydni Forcone, Raquel Hunter, Amy Juckett, Amanda Kinkler, Matt Lawler, Katharine Little, Arjun Mathur, Gillan McCarthy, Gianna Meoli, Michael Milhous, Lennon Morgan, Alyssa Nazarok, Del Padiz, Rayna Patel, Tia Randolph, Molly Rosado, Kyle Sacco, Jocelyn Schwartz, Pranshu Suri, Anisa Syed, Jeff Toth, Patrick Turner, Lauren VandenBerg, Sara VanDyke and George Wimberg.

Nugent receives award

The Widener University School of Law recently held awards ceremonies. Honorees included Julie E. Nugent, of Northfield, who received the Greenwatch Institute Scholarship Award in Memory of Jerry Shields, given annually to an outstanding student based on performance in the school’s Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic and a commitment to public interest advocacy.

Nugent will graduate May 18 and will work as a clerk in the Superior Court of New Jersey for Judge Nelson C. Johnson.

She is the daughter of William and Kathleen Nugent, of Northfield.
