Carman on Rider dean's list

Rider University's colleges of Business Administration, Continuing Studies, Liberal Arts, Education and Sciences, and Westminster College of the Arts have announced the names of undergraduate students who have been placed on the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester, including Rena Carman, of Northfield, a sophomore communication studies major.

Students on dean's list at Salisbury

Three Linwood residents were named to the dean's list at Salisbury University for the fall 2013 semester. Thet are Jacqueline Holtzman, Mercedes Mangold and Erin Sless.

Barrett on dean's list, inducted into honor society

Kathleen Barrett, of Somers Point, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Galloway Township.

Barrett also was inducted into the Eta Sigma Delta International Hospitality Management Society. Criteria include: must be junior or senior minimum of 60 credits, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, and be in the top 20 percent of the class.

Mangold receives scholarship

In addition to raising thousands of dollars annually for charities, Sea Gull Century cyclists also support the Salisbury University community. Proceeds from the 25th anniversary ride in October 2013 provided $5,500 in scholarships for 13 students, as well as $5,000 for 15 grants for faculty and staff.

The students all participated in the ride or served as event volunteers. They included senior Mercedes Mangold, an exercise science/allied health major from Linwood.

Selected annually by a Sea Gull Century committee, the awards are for the spring semester. Scholarships ranged from $250 to $1,000, and students must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average. Faculty grants were from $275 to $500. Their awards supported presentations on topics ranging from medical laboratory science skills to the choreography of anarchism.

Pushman on dean's list at Wake Forest

Amy Pushman, of Linwood, was named to the fall 2013 dean's list at Wake Forest University.

Students who achieve a 3.4 grade-point average and no grade below a C were named to the list.

Students on dean's list at University of Delaware

Local students been named to the University of Delaware's dean's list for the 2013 fall semester included: Meredith Castellani, Sydney Finkelstein, Brandon Goldfine, Brianna Hafetz, Samantha Malamut, Melissa Miller, Julia Zeltner, all of Linwood; John Brennan and Jessica Mann, both of Northfield; Gia Caiazza, George Flammer, Justin Phillips, Kelsey Reading, all of Somers Point; Alexis Blandine, Alex Reid, and Ashley Weiner, all of Margate.

To qualify, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA, of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.
