LoPresti graduates summa cum laude
Anna LoPresti, of Northfield, graduated summa cum laude from Ursinus College with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics during commencement exercises on Friday, May 10, on the college campus. More than 410 students received bachelor’s degrees.
LoPresti was one of 61 members of the class whose accomplishments earned them election to Phi Beta Kappa, the highest academic honor for undergraduate students. At commencement, she received the Faculty Prize in mathematics, which is awarded to an outstanding mathematics student.
She has been accepted to the mathematical, computational and systems biology program at the University of California at Irvine.
Gallagher on dean’s list at Holy Cross
Kevin Gallagher, of Northfield was named to the dean’s list at Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass, for the spring 2013 semester.
Bucknell announces dean’s list
Bucknell University has released the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2012-13 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition. Included on the list is Jacqueline A. McKeone, of Northfield.
Students graduate from FDU’s Metro Campus
Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus has released the names of students who have graduated as of May 2013 on undergraduate and graduate levels. Local students include Tara Yard, of Northfield; and Allison Goltra, of Somers Point.
Stellitano on dean’s list at St. Joseph’s
Lillian R. Stellitano, of Northfield, an accounting major, earned dean’s list honors for the spring 2013 semester at St. Joseph’s University.
Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all their classes, and complete at least 15 credits to earn dean’s list status for a semester.
Students on dean’s list at Rensselaer
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute named Vincent Butrus, of Linwood, and Shannon Collins, of Somers Point, to the spring 2013 dean’s list for academic achievement.
Students on dean’s list at Virginia Tech
The following students enrolled at Virginia Tech were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester: Thomas E. Dowey, of Linwood, a freshman majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering; Allison Q. Miller, of Linwood, a senior majoring in architecture in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies; and Nancy E. Stevenson, Linwood, a junior majoring in biological systems engineering in the College of Engineering.
To qualify for the dean’s list, students must attempt at least 12 credit hours graded on the A-F option and earn a 3.4 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.
Fausey wins scholarship
Rachel Fausey recently was presented a $1,000 scholarship grant by Sally Hastings, president of the Somers Point Historical Society, based upon Rachel’s submission of a multimedia website, “The Arts are Alive in Somers Point,” displaying her research of the performing arts in Somers Point’s past.
Cleo Kordomenos was presented a $200 award to acknowledging her interest, enthusiasm and high achievement in the study of history.
The Somers Point Historical Society annually offers a total of $1,500 in competitive grants to high school juniors or seniors who complete a research project on an aspect of the history of Somers Point. See somerspointhistory.org.
